Since I mentioned in my little ‘review’ of the Nikkor AF 28mm/1.4D that I think it has better resistance to flare than the Nikkor AF-S 24mm/1.4G I thought I might show how ‘bad’ the 28/1.4D can flare in a worst case scenario stopped down. It was nothing I was going to test but just stepped into the sun and fund the effect on the picture interesting enough to use it.
I don’t own the 24/1.4G and can’t show a fair flare comparison but in my brief encounter the 24/1.4G showed some little flare in a situation (sun about 80° from the upper left) I wouldn’t expect so see any flare in the 28/1.4D.
Update May 4, 2012:
Photozone just posted a test report of the Nikkor AF 28mm/1.4D on the D3x
IFAIK Photozone is the only site in the whole WWW where the Nikkor AF 28mm/1.4D is tested on D7000 and D3x and one can compare it to the newer Nikkor AF-S 24mm/1.4G, Nikkor AF-S 28mm/1.8G and Nikkor AF-S 35mm/1.4G.
